Welcome Viggo

Caroline & Martin's baby boy came today.

Finally.

 Welcome Viggo!

Spring Inside

88514-1621As I paid for my bag of apples at ICA on Tuesday morning, the cashier handed me a humble bouquet of daffodils. The flowers were probably Easter leftovers and given to early costumers that day in hope of reaching a good home.

Ten minutes later, they were placed in my grandparents' beautiful but unpolished silver vase and put above my kitchen fan. Then I left Kristianstad a and was not back until late Wednesday.

Therefore I missed the transformation

When I came home, the once so humble bouquet had left its humbleness behind. Ten rubbery buds had exploded in a yellow splendor and filled the apartment with a sweet scent of spring.

Yes, today it is spring inside.

Like a Baby

88514-1619

Looking at Signe today, I understood what it means to "sleep like a baby." How relaxed she looks, how safe and totally comfortable. Myself, I can not sleep without a comforter or a blanket. Not even on the hottest summer nights. I feel too naked and unprotected lying bare.

Such ideas we get as we grow up.

Baby News

Maxx is getting older so fast. Yesterday he turned two months and his slow aunt Åsa didn't even remember. I better shape up if I want to keep my position as the super aunt. I promise to come and see you soon!

It is raining babies in my family and among my friends. Last night, my cousin Jimmy and his Stina had a little girl and any day, my bästis Caroline will deliver her Wiggo.

And I... Well, one of my plants just got a new sprout.

Signe

Last weekend, I invited myself to go and see Signe, Stina and Max. Signe was deep asleep for most of my visit and didn't mind at all to be carried, sniffed and cuddled by aunt Åsa. Sweetie pie.

See, how great I look with a baby. Seriously, I think I deserve one of my own soon.

Little Signe has already developed a cool style.

Alfons & Thyra

88514-1613

Today, my uncle and cousin had a combined birthday dinner. Our family dinners are way more fun nowadays, since the kids started coming.

Unfortunately, Linus was too sick to come this time and Maxx stayed home with Jenny. That left Alfons and Thyra to rule the event. Alfons turned into a little entertainer, played peek-a-boo with his (second) cousin, gave her soft hugs and wet kisses, showed her all the animals in his collection, generously shared his toys, and almost taught her how to sing "Happy Birthday".

Thyra was totally impressed.

How can it be?

Sweden is the only country in Europe which allows marriage between siblings who share one parent.

Unsymmetrical

In the middle of brushing my teeth this morning, while gargling white toothpaste-foam and spitting in the sink, I threw a glance in the mirror. My face. I have seen it a billion times, know every line and mark.

Thought I.

Suddenly, I noticed. My nose.

Unsymmetrical!

The left side of the tip of my nose is bigger than the right.

?

This leaves two possibilities. Either, the left side of my nose has unexpectedly started growing much faster than its neighbor. Or, I have always had an unsymmetrical nose.

I don't like either of the two.

The Horror!

In third grade, our school nurse made me aware that one of my legs is longer than the other, and that one of my hip-bones higher than the other. To cure my disability, she made me walk with extra inner soles in my right shoe. My self- esteem flew out the window.

And now this.

I belong in a freak show.

Welcome Signe

88514-1607

A week ago, my best friend Stina gave birth to a perfect daughter, Signe. I have not been able to see them yet, but can't wait to next weekend when I'll go home. I bet she smells wonderfully babyish and is as soft as a never washed fleece blanket. Cutie!

Signe, one week today!

First Mosquito

88514-1607

I just saw the season's first mosquito. It came from nowhere, buzzed into the light of my desk lamp, and sat down on a copy of Oliver Twist right next to me.

"Hey!" I thought, "a sure sign of spring."

And watched it for a second.

Before I squeeze it between my thumb and index finger.

Now I feel bad.

I killed the messenger.

Marvelous

I have spent this weekend doing something I have not done in a long time.

Nothing.

Nothing productive anyway, nothing with a higher goal.

And I have done it in the best possible way.

Together with friends.

So relaxed have I been, that I did not even notice the change of months. March snuck up on me unannounced. And all of a sudden winter is over.

Just like that.

The world seems to rotate without my interference.

Marvelous.
