Nowadays

In today's world, religion is a charged topic. People do evil things in the name of religion and spread fear and loathe of faiths that once were supposed to bring people together. It's a shame. I have a pretty peaceful attitude to religions and wise followers of them. Most religions preach love and goodness and I sort of like that concept. 
  
There are extremists in all camps and they are all just as horrible. In Israel, I once met a orthodox Jewish woman who believed all arabs are born evil and that Messiah would return first when they all were exterminated. I couldn't think of anything to say to her, so I just sat silent. Scared.

    

Otherwise Israel is a cool place. People around the world only know it as a violent zone. They see war and killings on the news, but as always there is another side. How many knows of the magic around the Western Wall on Saturday nights, when hundreds of Jews hymn to celebrate Sabbath? How many know about the fresh made pitas and hummus from the stands in the Arabic quarter, or have seen an Armenian priest stop to get a falafel on his way to service? 
     
On any given day, more people get along than hate each other. But that never makes the news.
